Prime
The other day i was flipping channels, looking for a good movie to watch, n I saw my fav actress Uma Thurman, n I obviously paused; n then in the next frame I saw Meryl Streep, and then I just stopped. I was going to watch this movie, however much was remaining.
The movie has the Cheeni Kum kinda subject, of two people with a huge age gap, only in this case Uma was the older woman, around 37 years old, though she doesn't look it; and this guy, i didn't quite register his name, is 23, though he doesn't admit it. The subject I'm sure has been handled various times, in various ways, but I felt this one time in Prime it was handled very well. The interesting addition here was Meryl's role. She is Uma's therapist, to whom Uma empties her heart out as far as her emotional self goes; and this boy turns out to be related to Meryl! Of course, Meryl discovers this over a period of time over several sessions with Uma. She is so convincing in the way she portrays her dilemma - very realistic. Her immediate reaction is that she must stop the sessions with Uma, because there clearly is a conflict of interest. However, she is advised in turn by her therapist to continue the sessions as her only prime objective as Uma's therapist is Uma's welfare, and as this affair would likely just blow over with time, she must stick with her client for her best interest.
I'd recommend this movie, if not for anything else, for some good performances - both are such brilliant actresses, and Uma as usual looks so damn good!
